OnePlus began pushing stable ColorOS 17 updates to the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 in India, moving the release ahead of its own schedule. The company had set October 29 as the start date for the first wave, which arrived roughly a week early.

The rollout marks the end of OxygenOS. OxygenOS started as a near-stock Android layer with a small set of added features, then developed into a version of Oppo's ColorOS built for markets outside China. When OnePlus scaled back most of its global operations, the company said OxygenOS would be phased out and existing devices would move to ColorOS. The OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 are the first to make that switch.

ColorOS 17 is built on Android 17 and had been available in beta before this stable release. OnePlus said the update is organized around "Flow with AI, Flow Everywhere." In its description, the company said the aim is to make everyday interactions more fluid, help turn ideas into finished work with AI, and let people move between tasks, devices and experiences with less friction. "ColorOS 17 is here, bringing a new wave of smarter experiences, smoother interactions, and more ways to make your phone work around you," the company said.

Only the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 are receiving the software in this first wave. OnePlus has confirmed other devices for the update, including the previous generation of flagships and a range of Nord models.

The release follows a period of change for the brand. Reports have noted that the OnePlus 15 and other models fully sold out in the United States after the company shut down most global operations, and OnePlus has unveiled the OnePlus 16 with a 9,000 mAh battery.

OnePlus has scheduled the next wave for October 30, which will include the OnePlus 13. The company has not confirmed dates for launches beyond India and that October 30 follow-up.
