Sam Fender has set a new maximum price of 98.85 pounds for standing tickets at his upcoming Wembley show, reversing an initial listing that reached 130.75 pounds. The 32-year-old musician made the change after fans questioned the high cost of admission for the Proper Massive tour. He stated on Instagram that the original figures did not reflect his intentions for the production.
The pricing dispute began earlier this week when the tour dates were announced. An Instagram user named Gavin Davis posted a screenshot of the Wembley ticket options. The listing showed front standing seats at 130.75 pounds and standard standing seats at 98.85 pounds. Seated tickets ranged from 64.75 pounds to 130.75 pounds. Many followers argued that the gap between zones was too wide for a pop rock event.
Fender responded directly to the post to explain the error. He said the prices had been inflated beyond what he wanted. He clarified that any increase in ticket cost should cover the actual expenses of staging the show. He rejected the idea of using higher prices as an additional profit margin for ticketing partners.
The singer also scrapped the division of standing areas into front and back tiers. He described that practice as bollocks and confirmed it would not be used for his tour. He expressed confusion over how such a system became standard in live music and insisted it would not be part of his event structure.
The high pricing issue extended beyond London. Other cities on the tour also listed standing tickets above 100 pounds. In Newcastle, the top price was 112.90 pounds. Cardiff listed top tickets at 119 pounds. Manchester’s top price was 119.60 pounds. Edinburgh had the highest price point in the UK lineup at 120.95 pounds.
Presale tickets for the tour open on Wednesday morning. General sales begin on Friday. The tour will take place across the summer of 2027. Fender is scheduled to perform at St James’s Park in Newcastle, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Marley Park in Dublin, Murrayfield in Edinburgh, and the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
The singer joins other artists who have challenged high live music costs. In August, Zara Larsson shared a similar sentiment in a TikTok video. She agreed with fans that tickets for her show in Bangkok were very expensive. She expressed a desire to be more involved in the pricing process and noted her frustration that financial barriers kept people from attending her shows.
Fender also confirmed earlier this week that a fourth studio album is in the works. He has not revealed the title or cover art for the project. The release follows his 2025 album People Watching, which won the Mercury prize. His duet with Olivia Dean, Rein Me In, won the 2026 Brit award for song of the year and spent 23 weeks at number one on the singles chart.
