The U.S. military has finalized plans for new strikes against Iran while President Donald Trump evaluates his next move. No final order to launch additional attacks has been issued yet.
CNN reported on October 26 that American forces in the Middle East could begin major operations within 96 hours of receiving presidential authorization. The proposed targets include Iranian military facilities, nuclear sites, and energy infrastructure. Officials are also assessing the risk of retaliation against U.S. personnel and installations across the region.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly pushed for further military action. His office disputes parts of the accounts regarding discussions with Washington, creating some ambiguity about the level of coordination between the two leaders.
The buildup comes before the November 3 midterm elections. Trump previously indicated he would not authorize new attacks before Election Day. This timeline creates a narrow window for potential action if he reverses his earlier stance.
Regional security concerns have also prompted talks about reducing U.S. diplomatic personnel in certain locations. For now, military preparations remain separate from any presidential decision to proceed.
The administration faces a choice between acting before the vote or waiting until after. The 96-hour readiness window suggests the military is prepared to move quickly if the political decision is made.
